Augmented Reality is a hot buzzword across industries hoping to leverage its power. But what exactly is it, anyway? This presentation explores not only the technical details of this emerging technology, but also how you can implement it in your supply chain process, including - order picking, bin packing and material handling.

Targeted to warehouse managers interested in using new technologies to improve the processes, those who want to learn about the latest in Augmented Reality for supply chain developments, and academics seeking the latest research findings, participants will learn:

  • How Augmented Reality (AR) compares to Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR)

  • What these emerging technologies offer to supply chains

  • How these systems can be applied to current processes

Discover how to implement these systems, as well as the results and impacts Augmented Reality is already making on industrial processes today. You'll also hear the results of scientific studies demonstrating hard returns on investment in these systems, the anticipated future direction of the technology, and how to overcome current barriers to its implementation.

Charu Thomas, Co-Founder at Oculogx

Charu Thomas studies Industrial and Systems Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), where she currently serves as the lead researcher on two separate studies related to Augmented Reality in Order Picking under her adviser, Thad Starner, the inventor of Google Glass. One study explores a completely novel sparse picking layout; the other is evaluating mechanisms for RFID verification. She is also the co-founder of Oculogx, a startup dedicated to the application of Augmented Reality in supply chains. Her logistics career began as a researcher at the Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines where she implemented simulations of autonomous vehicles for Home Delivery - research presented as the keynote speech at the 8th International Scientific Symposium on Logistics. Subsequently she investigated and recommended robotic systems order picking within McDonald's supply chain.
