November 16, 2017
2017 marks Toyota's 50th anniversary of providing forklifts to the U.S. market. In 1990, Toyota established their first production facility outside of Japan in Columbus, Indiana. Toyota has maintained the No. 1 market share position for the past 15 years and has expanded the Columbus operation 14 times since beginning production in May 1990. Today, the facility is over 1.3 million square feet with additional expansion projects underway. A very vertically integrated manufacturing facility, you will see how Toyota uses the tools of the Toyota Production System to build a wide variety of different forklifts every day to meet customer demand all over the world. The visit will include an overview of Toyota and the Toyota Production system as well as an extensive plant tour sharing the logistics of this mixed model production process.
Following the tour, a lunch and Q&A session will be provided as well as an opportunity for networking and separate breakout meetings.
