Participants in the North Carolina WERCouncil’s February Facility Tour Event Will Also Help Stop World Hunger

With more than 792 million people going without food each day—and 27,000 per day dying from hunger—the North Carolina (NC) WERCouncil encourages members and non-members to join its Tuesday, February 27, 2018 Facility Tour with an extra purpose: supporting Rise Against Hunger’s mission to end world hunger by 2030.

The non-profit has 20 distribution centers throughout the U.S., including two in North Carolina, says Lindsay Olla, Chair of the NC WERCouncil and VP of Marketing at Optricity Corp.

"The NC WERCouncil hosted a tour last May of Rise Against Hunger’s Raleigh facility that also included an opportunity for participants to work as a team to package more than 1,700 meals—which was a lot of fun," she explains. "We are doing the same at this February tour, held at Rise Against Hunger’s Charlotte DC, only this time our goal is to package 2,000 meals so we’d love to see an even larger turnout."

Olla expects February’s event to be every bit as informative and enjoyable as the previous one, noting that participation is a great way for companies to support a worthy cause as well as to build camaraderie among their team and with other attendees. "The tour also includes lunch, sponsored by Optricity, so that 100% of the registration fees will be donated to Rise Against Hunger." she adds.

The Charlotte event starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 1:30 p.m. Cost is $15 for WERC members, $25 for non-members. For more information and registration, click here. Unable to attend but would like to donate? Click here.
