Q: Does WERC certification extend to Refrigerated Warehouses as well?

Metrics Definitions
Q: Is the cost of transportation included in the defintion for Distribution Cost as a Percent of Sales?
A:
Shipping performance doesn’t refer to transportation costs. The shipping performance is the time spent tracking how well your 3PL, if that is who is managing your warehouse or DC, is achieving the company’s defined service levels. The company should be monitoring/tracking third-party logistics storage and shipping performance.

As for transportation costs, that would be part of the “Pick, Pack and Ship Product for Delivery.” This would be the cost of setting the order up, preparing it for shipment, loading it on the trailer and movements of the trailer within the yard.

DISTRIBUTION COSTS AS A PERCENT OF SALES. The cost to run distribution relative to total sales. Activities included in the operate warehousing process are: management activities, track inventory deployment, receive, inspect, and store inbound deliveries, track product availability, pick, pack, and ship product for delivery, track inventory accuracy, track third-party logistics storage and shipping performance.
